Be part of roller derby without playing, either on or off skates

Overview

Officiating is a vital part of roller derby, and a great way to be involved in the sport without playing. VRDL offers opportunities for both skating and non-skating officials, with pathways for beginners through to experienced officials. You’ll receive training, mentorship, and ongoing development as you build your skills and understanding of the game. Whether you're interested in refereeing or non-skating roles, officiating is a welcoming and supportive community within the league.

Who is this for
  • Ages 16+ No skating experience required 

  • Anyone interested in sport operations or being part of game day roles

What you'll do
  • Referee or officiate games (on skates or off skates) 

  • Track scores, penalties, and game statistics 

  • Support game flow and rule enforcement 

  • Assist with timing and administrative game roles 

  • Work as part of a game day officiating crew

When

Saturdays (scrimmage and game days)

Cost

Free + insurance fee
